Oppose Trump Administration's Attacks on Transgender Youth

I am writing to urge you to take immediate action against the Trump administration's escalating attacks on transgender youth. Since returning to the White House in January 2025, President Trump has enacted numerous legislative orders that directly harm trans young people, including restricting gender-affirming healthcare for trans youth under 19 and preventing trans women and girls from competing in women's sports. These policies are designed to erase an entire community of vulnerable children.
The situation has deteriorated beyond government indifference to active persecution. Books by LGBTQ+ authors continue to dominate banned book lists across America, erasing representation that helps young people understand themselves and their peers. On February 10, 2026, Trump ordered the Pride flag removed from the Stonewall National Monument in New York, a symbolic attack on LGBTQ+ history and dignity. Hate speech amplified by those in power is fueling a documented rise in hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people.
As Jane Krakowski stated at the Human Rights Campaign's Greater New York Dinner on February 7, 2026, where she received the Ally for Equality Award, the government has not only turned its back on the LGBTQ+ community but is now actively attacking it. Krakowski, who witnessed friends disappear during the AIDS crisis when she made her Broadway debut in 1987, recognizes the dangerous parallels between government abandonment then and government aggression now.
Trans youth deserve the same protections, healthcare access, and opportunities as all children. I am asking you to publicly oppose these discriminatory executive orders, co-sponsor legislation that protects trans youth from discrimination, and ensure that federal funding is not used to implement policies that harm transgender children. These young people need advocates in Congress who will stand up for their right to exist, receive appropriate medical care, and participate fully in society.
Now is the time to show up for the most vulnerable members of our community.
