An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Congress Must Stand up for Springfield!!

859 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!

The wonderful city of Springfield, Ohio has been much maligned by the Republican candidates for President and Vice President, and is experiencing unwarranted threats and challenges as a result of their irresponsible characterizations of the city and its Haitian immigrant population based on second- or third-hand fabricated information from the internet. Springfield has been struggling to survive as a result of the collapse of the Midwest manufacturing base that served as a driver of America's economy in the last century. Springfield's support of its Haitian immigrants is vital to its recovery, and it is determined to be successful. The unwarranted and absurd attention that has been brought upon it by the candidates has significantly damaged those efforts. I'm calling on you to sponsor a resolution condemning the unconscionably dangerous, racist, and harmful rhetoric that is being amplified by the candidates and their campaign. In addition to condemning the rhetoric, I want you to sponsor a resolution to provide additional federal support to the city of Springfield, Ohio, to assist them in repairing the damage that has been done to their reputation, their recovery efforts, and their dignity. I'd also like to see you recommend that your constituents support the local businesses of Springfield where possible.
