Why Are You Inactive When the Harm Is Real and the Danger Is Clear?

I am writing as a constituent because what is at risk now is not abstract. People have already suffered. The likelihood of political violence has increased. International actions—including the conflict involving Venezuela—carry real risks of injury and death. At the same time, the foundations of our democratic system continue to erode. There is extensive public evidence that Donald Trump and his administration have undermined core democratic institutions: pressuring election officials, attacking courts and prosecutors, attempting to overturn certified election results, encouraging political violence, and advancing plans to concentrate executive power by weakening civil-service and oversight protections. Given this record—and the real human consequences now unfolding—I do not understand your apparent lack of concern or your continued public silence. I am asking you to answer these questions directly: 1. Why do you not view these actions as a threat to democracy and the rule of law? 2. Which specific facts or findings lead you to conclude that these risks are overstated or acceptable? 3. What level of harm—legal, democratic, or human—would compel you to speak out or act? 4. If you believe existing safeguards are sufficient, explain precisely why, despite documented failures to restrain abuse of power. Given what is at stake, the public deserves more than talking points. We deserve your own reasoning, stated plainly and honestly.
