End the Unlawful Practice of Gerrymandering in Our Country

The unlawful practice of gerrymandering must end in our country. If allowed to continue, the crisis now unfolding in Texas by governor Abbott putting the whims of Trump over the fair representation of the people in his state could potentially spread across all fifty states as the parties fight for control. This would only widen the divides between the citizens of this country, which, as our elected leaders, you should be working to heal, not entrench further. No matter if red or blue wins the final victory, the American people will lose, our officials elected by trickery, not free and fair elections. I urge you to speak out loudly against this, to work to end gerrymandering once and for all, and to refuse to let our state be pulled into this ugly political battleground that has such potentially catastrophic consequences to the democracy that we as a nation have so proudly upheld for two and a half centuries.
