There is no justifiable reason for non-government political operatives like DOGE to gain access to the Social Security Administration's systems containing Americans' most sensitive personal and financial information. This data includes bank account details, Social Security numbers, medical records, birth certificates, and citizenship status that could be exploited for financial gain or targeting individuals. Career civil servants meticulously manage these records to protect the privacy and financial security of over 70 million seniors, people with disabilities, and children who receive Social Security benefits. Allowing DOGE operatives to misappropriate this data would violate federal privacy laws like the Privacy Act of 1974 and compromise the integrity of our social safety net programs. Strict oversight and transparency measures must be implemented to prevent the politically-motivated misuse of Americans' private data. Our nation's healthcare, retirement, and disability systems should not be subject to the whims of the current administration or private interests. Robust safeguards are vital to uphold the public's trust and shield vulnerable populations from potential exploitation of their most sensitive information.
