Stop Gun Violence

Please work to end gun violence. Robust and thorough background checks must be required, and assault weapons should be banned. Today’s News & Observer includes this data: “In 2020, 670 people in North Carolina died as a result of guns, up from 511 the prior year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. The figure includes accidental shootings, shootings in self defense and officer-involved shootings. “It does not include suicides, which account for the majority of gun deaths in a given year, according to a report by North Carolinians Against Gun Violence.” The Second Amendment is important - but it should not supersede the rights of these 670 people to live. Please work to stop this senseless violence. Thank you.
