An open letter to the U.S. Supreme Court

This was not the intention of the Alien Enemies Act

Shame on you for disenfranchising people in this country of due process. All people in this country, citizens or not, are allowed due process under the United States Constitution. Your ruling overturning a lower court’s orders demanding due process for “deporting” people suspected of being in a gang. Journalists from 60 Minutes have determined that at least 75% of those illegally disappeared from the US under President Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act did not have a criminal record. This is heinous and a gross miscarriage of justice that is fundamentally unconstitutional. What’s next? Disappearing American citizens to prisons out of the US for profit? Everyone deserves due process. Disappearing people to torture prisons in foreign countries for profit is cruel and unusual punishment and is strictly illegal. The stacking of the court for Trump was done for moments like this. We are hurting toward 1930s Germany every single day and your ruling on the Alien Enemies Act is enabling a fascist regime.
