We the people write to you today on behalf of all Americans, the Great Melting Pot that defines us all.
We respectfully demand that on January 6th you object to the certification of Donald Trump's electoral votes, based on the 14th Amendment, Section 3. Many of you were there four years ago when he led an insurrection against our Capitol and the rule of law itself. Those who were present will remember how it felt to be afraid, to see our sacred seat of law attacked and defiled. That is exactly how we the people have felt since that attack, as we watch our rights and institutions crumble.
The January 6th Committee's Report and multiple legal findings conclude that Donald Trump played a central role in deliberately orchestrating an insurrection to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power on January 6, 2021. Due to this fact, Donald Trump is constitutionally disqualified from holding office under the 14th Amendment. Section 3 of this amendment exists specifically to prevent an insurrectionist or foreign agent from holding public office. Donald J. Trump meets this criterion and has been rightfully adjudicated as an insurrectionist. There is overwhelming, documented evidence of his efforts to aid foreign adversaries in interfering with our government and in our free and fair elections.
Constitutional scholars agree. In spite of the ruling in Trump v. Anderson, Donald Trump remains constitutionally disqualified from holding office. He may not lawfully serve in ANY office unless Congress removes that disqualification by two-thirds majorities of both houses.
For a decade, we have endured the devastating effects of stochastic terrorism, disenfranchisement, and attacks on our basic human rights. We are here to declare that we are done tolerating it. We the people will no longer accept your disrespect for the Constitution. All elected members of Congress swore an oath to uphold the Constitution before God and country. You swore to protect our nation from all threats foreign AND domestic. You work for us and are obligated to uphold that oath of office. Failure to adhere to the self-executing provisions of Section 3 constitutes a violation of this sacred duty and the end of 248 years of our constitution's inviolability.
In closing, let us remind you of Senator Adam Schiff's words during the second impeachment to those who failed to stand up:
"...Your name will be tied to his with a cord of steel and for all of history. But if you find the courage to stand up to him, to speak the awful truth to his rank falsehood, your place will be among the Davids who took on Goliath—if only you will say, 'enough.'"
Remember how you felt during the attack. Remember all those that came before to build this great nation. Members of Congress, we implore you to please honor your oath and say, “enough.” Please, stand with us now and do the right thing to preserve the legacy of our beloved country.
Do not certify the electoral votes for the insurrectionist Donald Trump.
