An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Removal of probationary employees was political, not merit based

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The administration's decision to terminate thousands of probationary federal employees appears to be an attempt at restructuring and downsizing the government workforce, rather than addressing individual performance issues. The mass firings are causing real harm to states by disrupting government operations and services without proper notice. While the administration claims the dismissals are routine personnel actions, the scale and lack of justification raise concerns about ulterior motives that undermine principles of good governance. The judiciary should scrutinize these actions to ensure federal workers are treated fairly and the law is properly followed. Upholding due process and preventing arbitrary terminations is essential to maintain the integrity of the civil service system and protect it from politicization.
