I’m writing to urge your support for H.J.Res. 115, the resolution to terminate the emergency declared by former President Trump on August 11, 2025, and end the federal occupation of Washington, DC. This executive order falsely claimed a “crime emergency” despite the fact that violent crime in DC has been declining and is now at a 30-year low. The federalization of DC’s Metropolitan Police Department violates the Home Rule Act and undermines local governance. It has also blocked the District from using $1 billion of its own locally-raised revenue for essential services. This is a dangerous overreach and a direct assault on democratic self-determination. Please stand with DC residents and support H.J.Res. 115 to restore local control and constitutional integrity.
