Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
I know y’all don’t want to talk about the events of January 6, 2020. Why would you? None of it reflects well on the GOP. None of it.
But as was recently stated by one of your own, Sen. Kevin Cramer: "The Republican Party is successful with Donald Trump. He's good for us, for the most part. And I think the Republican Party is good for Donald Trump. I don't think the two can function well apart from one another."
So…bed made. Deal made. Done and done.
I can’t begin to fathom acceptance of such an ongoing danger to our country as politically viable, useful, and acceptable. Accepted as the price necessary to remain in, or regain, power. Or worse, accepted as just more business as usual.
For the party of all things patriotic and moral, this reeks.
I for one am hopeful that the slow steady roll of justice, and review by the court of public opinion, will continue. Every day reveals more despicable details about the people involved with January 6. And I expect the worst has yet to be revealed.
The majority of Americans love our democratic country. We don’t want anarchy. We don’t want authoritarianism. We don’t want to be ruled by a minority. A minority that is happy to gain power by any means necessary.
History will eventually prove that.
Remember the silent majority? We’re still here.
