VOTE BLANCHE. HE’LL KEEP THE EPSTEIN PREDATORS SAFE

29 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

If there was ever an example of how little justice matters when it comes to political power, we don’t need to look further than the confirmation process that is about to allow the most unqualified candidate in memory to lead the DOJ. Todd Blanche. There’s the usual GOP grumbling. Maybe some concern. The drama of one or two possible holdouts to approval…when we all know, always know, they will vote for a dead dog if their party demands it. Example. Tom Tillis, NC senator, who lost his senate seat because he displeased the big guy, and showed some hopeful signs of regaining some dignity and moral compass before he walks out the door, signaled that his support for Blanche’s promotion was contingent upon one thing: Blanche finally meeting with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein. So, forced into a corner if he wants the job, Blanche met with a group of Epstein accusers for more than an hour at the DOJ. Initial accounts suggest that the sit-down went poorly. One survivor said in a statement that finally meeting with Blanche made her “even more confident in urging senators to vote against his confirmation as the United States’ Attorney General.” “I found him abrasive, condescending, and intentionally noncommittal to survivors — a marked contrast to his public testimony during his confirmation hearing. While quick to point to the failures of previous administrations, he refused to take accountability for mistakes made under his own leadership.” This same survivor, who has testified that Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell sexually assaulted her at Epstein’s New Mexico ranch, said Blanche “would not commit” to an investigation into why her sister’s 1996 report to the FBI about Epstein was never addressed. “His evasiveness felt like a deliberate attempt to claim the Attorney General’s office is powerless in this matter. By passing the buck once again, he is leaving survivors trapped in the same endless loop of searching for answers and receiving none,” she said. Another Epstein survivor, had similar takeaways. “It had absolutely nothing to do with us, and it had everything to do with Blanche checking a box so that he could get a promotion. It had nothing to do with us. It was demoralizing, to say the least.” “If he offered almost anything, I think that we would have been happy that he just offered us something. But he completely talked around questions. He didn’t give transparent answers. He didn’t give us any promises as far as following up on investigative leads. He had no real answers for the Ghislaine Maxwell transfer and no real explanation for the improper redactions.”” Speaking to reporters after the obligatory meeting, we heard the most astounding remark by Blanche since he declared himself Trump’s lawyer, until catching himself and realizing he was off script if he wanted the top cop job. Speaking to reporters, Blanche acknowledged the tense nature of the meeting. “It wasn’t all cordial,” Blanche said to the AP. “Because there’s something that they want that I don’t think I can give them, which is some form of justice. And I want to be able to give justice in the form of prosecutions, and maybe we can do a prosecution at some point.”” Got that? They shouldn’t expect justice from the Department of Justice. He just can’t do it. Sorry. Maybe a prosecution sometime. In the future, i.e. don’t hold your breath. But he did what was asked of him. We know that the meeting with survivors, even the nothing burger it was, will not derail his nomination to become Trump’s very own personal AG. Tillis seemed tickled-pink that Blanche took the meeting. Apparently that was all that was required. Victim satisfaction was not the concern. Just more meaningless kabuki so he could make the worst vote of his career with a clear conscience. “I commend Todd Blanche for doing what all his predecessors over the last two decades never did: meet with the victims of Jeffery Epstein’s horrific crimes. I appreciate his willingness to directly engage and listen to them,” Tillis said in a statement. The victims got their pats on the head. Another empty performance. Meanwhile, senator John Cornyn remains coy. He still says he remains undecided on his vote after questioning Blanche over whether Trump’s 1/6 slush fund is truly dead. But, even though he has also lost his senate job, Cornyn has largely been a reliable vote for Trump. So don’t expect a last minute conversion. Even though he’s lost everything he has to lose and should be beholden to no one but himself. And the country he is still supposed to serve. At least for a little while.
