Oppose HB130: Protect Inclusive Education in Alabama Schools

11 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

The proposed expansion of the "Don't Say Gay" bill, HB130, threatens to stifle inclusive education in Alabama's public schools. This bill not only extends the ban on discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity to twelfth grade, but also includes a ban on displaying certain flags, an absurdly restrictive measure. The ACLU of Alabama rightly advocates for inclusive discussions, highlighting the educational deficit this bill could exacerbate. It is crucial to foster an environment where all students feel seen, understood, and accepted. Therefore, it is requested to vote against HB130, to protect the rights and freedoms of all students, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This decision would demonstrate a commitment to comprehensive education and inclusivity, rather than promoting exclusion and discrimination.
