Introduce Legislation to Curb AI Data Center Electricity Overuse

I am writing to demand legislative action in response to the rapid growth of AI data centers in Pennsylvania, which is placing unsustainable stress on our electric grid. As recently reported by WHYY, the Delaware Valley is already experiencing the effects of this unchecked growth. Energy providers like PECO are raising concerns about grid capacity as more data centers seek connections, potentially leading to summer outages and surging demand during heat waves.
This is unacceptable. Our constituents should not have to fear power loss or higher utility bills because large corporations are allowed to expand without limits or accountability.
I urge you to introduce and support legislation that: - Limits the energy consumption of new and existing data centers based on grid capacity and residential prioritization;
- Requires renewable energy offsets for all AI data center energy use above a certain threshold;
We need lawmakers who prioritize the people of Pennsylvania, not corporate profits. My vote — and that of many other residents — will depend on who takes action to protect our homes, jobs, and power during this urgent energy transition.
Please make this a legislative priority.
