Trump has announced he is considering deporting up to 240,000 Ukrainians who fled Russia's vicious invasion of their home country. This is an evil and unconscionable act, a complete betrayal of Ukraine, and entirely against the national security interests of the United States. It is an act taken directly from Vladimir Putin's playbook, and will long be remembered as American treachery towards a country we said we wanted to help. We will be considered unreliable long after Donald Trump is dead.
I call upon my elected representatives to act IMMEDIATELY to stop Trump from deporting Ukrainian refugees, and to take action to financially and materially continue supporting Ukraine fighting Russian aggression. We committed to this under the Budapest Memorandum, and it is long past time we carried out our side of that agreement. Do the right thing, and STOP the deportation of Ukrainian refugees by Trump.
