WHY IS ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SEXUAL PREDATORS SO HARD FOR THE GOP?

The White House continues to try to put a lid on questions about the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and the president. After vehemently denying they had plans for a meeting to discuss responses to the Epstein issue, White House officials met Wednesday night after all. The meeting was reportedly hosted by JD Vance, with the gathering moved from the VP’s official residence to the White House. The meeting had been billed to include top Trump officials, including AG Bondi, and FBI director Patel. Vance and his staff had denied that a meeting to discuss the handling of the Epstein scandal was ever a thing. Instead the meeting’s main focus was expected to be the administration’s handling of the Epstein case and the need for a unified response. Reporting also said that Trump officials were weighing whether the deputy AG, Todd Blanche, should hold a press conference about his two in-person interviews with Maxwell in Florida earlier this month, before she was moved to a lower-security prison camp in Texas. This situation has been handled so poorly that anything forthcoming from anyone involved is suspect. The public trust has been systematically destroyed over the last 10 years, to great affect. Now, even if Trump officials were to tell the actual truth, no one will believe them. The mission to destroy confidence in government is complete. So it doesn’t really matter what is released, who goes on camera, who has a press conference…it is all tainted with an obvious attempt to protect the president from…what exactly? Even if there is no fire amongst all the smoke, Trump himself has destroyed any credibility on the issue with his guilty behavior. He acts like there’s something to hide. If there isn’t, why all the attempts to distract and deflect by him? And by the agencies he directs? Why did he say the Epstein files would be released? And now says there’s nothing to see here and that we’re all stupid for thinking there is? This coverup is just as inept and incompetent as the rest of the Trump administration. They’re making it worse and worse every day. What we the people want is simple. We want the people responsible for sexual trafficking of minors and the clients they served to be held to account.
