An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Urge Senate Democrats to Encourage a Change in Leadership

As your constituent, I am asking you to take a stand. I am deeply concerned about the current direction and effectiveness of Democratic leadership in the U.S. Senate, particularly under Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. In this critical time—when democracy, civil rights, and the rule of law are under unprecedented threat—we need bold, strategic, and courageous leadership, not symbolic gestures and strongly worded letters. Senator Schumer’s pattern of tepid responses, vague condemnations, and lack of meaningful strategic resistance to authoritarian threats and harmful legislation has left millions of Americans feeling unrepresented and demoralized. While we understand the challenges of leading in a divided chamber, we believe this moment calls for more than caution and decorum—it calls for tenacity, clarity, and action. The Democratic Party—and the nation—need a Senate Minority Leader who will fight unapologetically for democratic values, mobilize the caucus with vision and urgency, and use every legislative and procedural tool available to hold bad actors accountable.
