An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Don't Empty The Food Pantry

13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I just learned that the USDA has cut $500 million from the program that pays farmers and food producers for surplus food and then provides it to food pantries for the poor. How dare you allow the poor to go hungry so you can have a bonus payday for the 400 billionaires in this country. That is a disgrace and you should be ashamed that that was allowed to happen. Here is what I want you to do. Put back the $500 million in USDA funds that was taken away from food pantries. Then I want you to make sure that there are NO BUDGET CUTS to SNAP, or Medicaid and that Medicaid Expansion stays in place. Want to save a fortune? Then put universal healthcare in place right now - it will save a minimum of $650 billion each and every year (per the 2020 CBO report). In the meantime stop this punishment of low income Americans to benefit the wealthiest.
