An open letter to the U.S. Congress

WHEN WILL DOGE PRODUCE SAVINGS STATS?

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. Now that daily chaos has come to be expected, today we read that the pinnacle is finally being achieved…access to the SSA by DOGE. Per the WaPo: “Leland Dudek, a data analyst working in a small anti-fraud office, was suspected of sharing unauthorized access to information with representatives of Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service. Now he’s the acting Social Security commissioner.” They finally found their Julian Assange. What will you be doing to assure that Americans’ most personal information, particularly as it pertains to access to our banking information, be protected? Because it seems apparent that nothing is off limits if it is deemed necessary to root out fraud and corruption. And these days the search for fraud and corruption seems commiserate with revenge and retribution. But we should all be heartened by this recent exchange during a governors’ gathering at the WH… “The body that governs sports in Maine, the Maine Principals’ Association, ruled that it would continue to allow transgender students to compete despite Trump's executive order because the Maine state Human Rights Law prohibits discrimination on the grounds of gender identity. Trump asked if the governor of Maine was in the room. “Yeah, I’m here,” replied Governor Mills. “Are you not going to comply with it?” Trump asked. “I’m complying with state and federal laws,” she said. “We are the federal law,” Trump said. “You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t….” “We’re going to follow the law,” she said. “You’d better comply because otherwise you’re not going to get any federal funding,” he said. Mills answered: “We’ll see you in court.” As Shawn McCreesh of the New York Times put it: “Something happened at the White House Friday afternoon that almost never happens these days. Somebody defied President Trump. Right to his face.” Finally, someone told the emperor about his lack of clothes. Hours later, the Trump administration launched an investigation into Maine’s Department of Education, specifically its policy on transgender athletes. Do you believe in states’ rights or not? What do you consider the limits of states’ powers? You seem to feel that Texas was completely within its rights to take actions at our borders that went against federal rulings? Do you believe it to be legal to threaten to cut off federal funding to assert executive power? I’m just being facetious. It’s apparent states rights are as fleeting, amorphous, and fungible as all the other supposed GOP ideals these days. In any case, every day in every way the public is showing growing dissatisfaction with the slash and burn, incompetent government we’re being presented with. Have you read the polls lately? Maybe we’re not as stupid as you think we are.
