Well, well well,
Pete Hegseth in 2024: “Transgender soldiers are not deployable because they are reliant on chemicals.”
For years, many in Washington condemned hormone therapy as “gender affirming care” and portrayed it as morally unacceptable.
Now the Department of Defense is celebrating mandatory testosterone screening and offering testosterone therapy in the name of military readiness.
So which is it?
Is hormone therapy wrong, or is it acceptable when the government approves of the hormone?
Scripture repeatedly warns against hypocrisy. Jesus reserved some of His strongest words for those who preached one standard while living by another.
Principles do not change because politics does.
If hormones are suddenly the key to readiness, why ignore thyroid disorders, sleep deprivation, iron deficiency, menopause, vision, hearing, reaction time, and cognitive performance? Those all affect mission readiness. Yet testosterone alone becomes the priority.
Congress should hold immediate oversight hearings. Require the Department of Defense to present the scientific evidence supporting mandatory testosterone screening, explain why testosterone was singled out, clarify how these medical records will be used, and guarantee that no service member’s career will be affected by an arbitrary hormone benchmark.
Will testosterone levels eventually become another tool to exclude qualified Americans from military service?
Will women be measured against a biological standard built around male physiology?
The American people deserve those answers before this policy expands.
If hormone levels are truly a matter of national security, then the same standards should begin at the top. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHETHER THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF AND OTHER SENIOR LEADERS ARE HELD TO THE SAME EXPECTATIONS IMPOSED ON ENLISTED PERSONNEL. If transparency applies only to those taking orders and not those giving them, this is not accountability. It is a double standard.
America deserves equal standards, evidence based policy, and leaders who practice the principles they preach.
Pete Hegseth in 2026: “I’m authorizing a new screening program… ensuring you have the right testosterone levels to operate at your absolute best.”
