Vote No on the SAVE Act: Unconstitutional Federal Overreach

I'm asking you to vote no on the SAVE Act and oppose any effort to advance this legislation. This bill represents unconstitutional federal overreach into state election administration. The Constitution grants states the authority to determine voter qualifications and manage their own election processes. The SAVE Act tramples on this principle by imposing a federal mandate that strips states of their power to verify voter eligibility using their own established systems. This is a direct violation of the Tenth Amendment and state sovereignty. Beyond the constitutional problems, this bill is a solution in search of a problem. Noncitizen voting in federal elections is already illegal and extremely rare. What the SAVE Act actually does is create new barriers that will prevent eligible American citizens from exercising their right to vote. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship sounds reasonable until you realize that millions of Americans don't have easy access to birth certificates or passports, particularly women who changed their names after marriage, elderly voters born before hospital births were standard, and low-income citizens who can't afford the time and fees to obtain these documents. I expect you to stand against this unconstitutional federal mandate that undermines both state rights and voting rights.
