A letter to Congress and United States citizens: New Jersey residents expect our elected officials to defend both our interests and our values. Yet Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, along with Congressman Tom Kean Jr., have failed to act with the urgency and resolve required to prevent Donald Trump’s reckless military interventions abroad. When the executive branch moves toward military action that risks American lives, drains public resources, and destabilizes entire regions, Congress has not only the authority but the obligation to respond. The Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war and to serve as a check on unilateral military action. Instead of asserting this authority, Booker, Kim, and Kean have largely remained passive while decisions with enormous human and financial consequences moved forward without meaningful congressional restraint. New Jersey families bear the burden of these choices. Our service members are placed in harm’s way, our tax dollars fund prolonged conflicts instead of strengthening our communities, and our global reputation suffers when force is used without clear justification or accountability. Silence and hesitation in moments of crisis are not neutrality—they are abdication. Constituents deserve representatives who will challenge unlawful or unnecessary military action, demand transparency, and insist on debate before American troops are committed overseas. Booker, Kim, and Kean were elected to represent the people of New Jersey, not to defer to executive overreach. Their failure to act decisively has left constituents without the strong advocacy we were promised and has weakened the constitutional balance meant to prevent unchecked military escalation. New Jersey deserves leaders willing to stand up, speak out, and act before lives and national principles are put at risk. We’ve been asking- BEGGING- for articles of impeachment against the entire Trump administration. We’ve been BEGGING for his removal from office. And now we are BEGGING YOU to step aside and let someone proactive take your seat. We deserve better representation.
