An open letter to the U.S. Congress

A Teen Is Dead—Congress Must Act to Protect Kids with Disabilities

50 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

The recent fatal police shooting of an autistic teenager is a devastating reminder of the consequences when our systems fail to understand and support neurodivergent individuals. This tragedy highlights the urgent need for education, training, and federally protected services—not less. I urge you to: • Fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). • Oppose any attempt to dismantle or defund the U.S. Department of Education. • Reject proposals to move IDEA oversight to HHS. • Support legislation requiring autism-specific training for law enforcement, educators, and public servants. Children with autism need understanding, not punishment. They need education, not politics. Act now.
