With the upcoming transition to the new administration and the egregious picks that President Trump has made for his cabinet with Gaetz, Hegseth and Gabbard to name a few, I implore you to your duty as my representatives and not cave to the pressure to allow recess appointments or forgo a thorough vetting process for these unqualified, embarrassing and frankly dangerous candidates. In NC, despite a Trump win, the bulk of the statewide races were won by democrats and I think the majority of the state’s voters will look unkindly on those who facilitate the creation of such a destructive cabinet. I am not opposed to the concept of streamlining government but experienced competent people are required to navigate such difficult terrain. If the stakes weren’t so high I would be happy for the incoming president to show once again how incompetent he is at governing but the risks aren’t worth it.
