Why Are You Afraid of Vaccines That Save Lives?

I am writing to ask a simple question: why are you so afraid of vaccines that prevent preventable diseases? Measles, chicken pox, cervical cancer, COVID-19, and the flu are not abstract risks—they are real, devastating illnesses that vaccines have proven to control or even eradicate. Measles was once eliminated in the United States, only to return because of declining vaccination rates. Chicken pox was once a normal childhood illness, but the vaccine now prevents thousands of hospitalizations every year. The HPV vaccine literally prevents cancer. COVID-19 vaccines saved millions of lives worldwide. Annual flu shots reduce hospitalizations and deaths year after year. These are not opinions; they are documented public health successes. And yet, instead of standing strong behind medicine and science, Congress is bending to the pressure of anti-vaccine activists like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who have made it their mission to spread fear and misinformation. Why is he being given power to make it harder for Americans to access proven, quality medicine? If someone doesn’t want a COVID booster, they don’t have to get one—that is their personal choice. But why am I being denied access to the booster I do want? Why are political calculations interfering with my right to protect my health and my family’s health? This is not freedom. This is not choice. This is dangerous political theater at the expense of public health. I urge you to stop catering to conspiracy theories and start standing up for evidence-based medicine that protects all Americans.
