An open letter to the President

Protect the right to protest!

8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I am writing to demand that ICE immediately cease the targeting, intimidation, or detention of individuals engaged in lawful protest. The right to assemble and speak freely is fundamental to a democratic society and must be protected, not suppressed. As an agency operating under the authority of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, ICE has an obligation to uphold constitutional protections and ensure that enforcement actions are not used to silence political expression. Any actions that appear to single out protestors for surveillance, detention, or harassment undermine public trust and raise serious civil liberties concerns. Public safety and immigration enforcement should never come at the expense of First Amendment rights. Peaceful protest is not a crime, and participation in civic expression must not be treated as grounds for investigation or enforcement. I urge immediate review of policies and actions to ensure that protestors are not being unfairly targeted, and that all enforcement activity complies fully with constitutional standards and civil rights protections.
