DEFINITELY NOT MAGA. WE’RE WATCHING AN AMERICAN TRAINWRECK
5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
Forbes reported yesterday that Trump’s military strikes in Iran have already cost US taxpayers more than $1B.
The three F-15E Eagle jets lost to friendly fire on Sunday cost $90M each.
Transporting troops, ships, and aircraft to the Middle East cost about $630M.
A drone is about $35,000, and a Tomahawk missile costs millions.
The two aircraft carriers in the region together cost at least $13M a day.
And all the associated operational costs.
Politico reports that Congress anticipates the administration will ask for supplemental funding for this operation, over and above the more than $150B Republicans provided the Pentagon in their OBBBA and the nearly $839B in regular funding Congress appropriated in February.
And now this…
The US Southern Command, which operates in Central and South America and the Caribbean, posted: “On March 3, Ecuadorian and U.S. military forces launched operations against Designated Terrorist Organizations in Ecuador. The operations are a powerful example of the commitment of partners in Latin America and the Caribbean to combat the scourge of narco-terrorism. Together, we are taking decisive action to confront narco-terrorists who have long inflicted terror, violence, and corruption on citizens throughout the hemisphere.”
Trump has now taken the power to declare war away from Congress, without a whimper. He has launched a military action that by his own admission is not an emergency situation for using the War Powers Act.
He should have asked Congress for authorization to send troops and money to Iran. Members of Congress, in turn, would then have had to answer to their constituents.
Declaring ‘emergencies’ is a strategy. A strategy that ends with federalizing our elections based on ‘emergencies’ he can unilaterally declare. Because y’all have allowed him to do so time and time again.
The GOP Congress has abdicated their power and their responsibility to the people who elected them.
So maybe the Trump administration has a point. Why should we elect people who only pretend to do the jobs they were hired to do?
He’s just trying to cut out the middleman. Because y’all are just another dead-weight expense we can’t afford. We have wars to support.
Pathetic.
