Block the planned cuts to U.S. military commitments to NATO. The Trump administration is preparing to slash strategic bombers, destroyers, submarines, fighter jets, and aerial refueling aircraft from the NATO Force Model — the framework that governs what assets we provide during a major crisis or war. NATO diplomats told Politico and Der Spiegel that some capabilities could disappear entirely. This is a gift to Putin, not a strategy.
Russia just launched one of its largest aerial assaults of the entire war against Kyiv — more than 90 missiles and hundreds of drones, including an Oreshnik ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Targets included schools, bomb shelters, and residential buildings. This is not a government that stops when we back down. Weakening sanctions and pulling back from NATO only extends the war and invites further aggression. Russia will not stop at what it currently holds in Ukraine.
The United States is made weaker, our national security is at greater risk, and our military is less capable when we abandon the alliances that house our bases all over the world. NATO allies protect us as much as we protect them. Pulling back from that framework doesn't just hurt Ukraine — it hollows out American power globally and hands Putin exactly what he wants.
Congress has the authority to act. Enforce the sanctions already on the books, protect Congressionally approved military aid, and block any further retreat from NATO commitments. The U.S. could help end this war by standing firm — not by starting new conflicts elsewhere while abandoning the one that directly threatens European stability and American security. Put a stop to this cowardly withdrawal.
