Restore Funding to Community Health Centers and Protect Your Constituents

I am your constituent and I want you to know that 31 million Americans receive medical care through community health centers, or CHCs. These outpatient clinics provide low-cost, high-quality medical services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. In some communities, a CHC is the only source of care. This administration froze federal grants to CHCs and now CHCs are closing or laying off staff.* And if that weren’t enough now Medicaid cuts are looming and that is a main source of funding for CHCs. I want you to also know that the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office found that greater federal investments in CHCs could save billions of dollars for Medicaid and Medicare. Until we have universal healthcare that will save the country hundreds of billions of dollars every year in unnecessary overhead, I want you to do everything you can to make sure that when someone has to get to a doctor they can. Part of that is to not cut Medicaid and part is to make sure that Community Health Centers have sufficient funding to help the 31 million Americans who need them.
