Seriously. The GOP behavior that continues to be accepted as normal these days is giving we the people whiplash.
Today we read about Dr. Fauci being pilloried for taking the 5th during a senate hearing today. It’s obvious that one of the senator’s only intent was to trap Fauci in the long-time quest to prove he wasn’t sufficiently truthful in past testimony about the coronavirus pandemic.
Regardless, the collective outrage by the Republicans at someone taking the 5th was hilarious.
But yeah, let’s attack the scientist who has given his life and career to public health for a good gotcha moment on TikTok. But let’s all forget about the malfeasance and incompetence to the Covid pandemic by the Trump administration.
A million dead you say?
And let’s watch the GOP point millions of dollars to Maine in the upcoming g senate race to try and tie the current Dem candidate running against Susan Collins to another Dem candidate who dropped out of the race after being accused of sexual misconduct.
Again, hilarious. Hilarious that the GOP will attempt to be outraged by this guilt by association when their very own president sits in the Oval Office convicted of sexual violence.
And whose administration is moving heaven and earth to keep the remaining Epstein files under DOJ lock and key.
Pedophile protector you say?
And let’s watch the GOP get all lathered up by the current examination of every word uttered by Joe Biden for inconsistencies, forgetfulness, lapses of mental acuity, while their guy can barely string a sentence together or identify who he’s talking to.
Instead they treat his every looney-tune pronouncement as Moses and the tablets.
Oh, and we must not forget the incessant public naps. Which seem to be taken in stride as long as the presidential napper is GOP.
Massive corruption and self-dealing, market manipulation using the office of the president.
An unsactioned war draining America’s coffers. And they keep asking for more more more but can’t, or won’t, tell us exactly why and what for.
More ‘beautification’ projects paid for taxpayers than we are even aware of. Usually including a big fat gold Trump sign on them somewhere. Or a giant glowering Trump visage captioned with some laughable piece of propaganda.
Pardoning of convicted felons, low-lifes, drug dealers, and even attempts to compensate 1/6 participants for their hurt feelings while they assaulted law enforcement.
All these things get a GOP nod and pass.
And all those things and more the GOP excuses and lauds within their own ranks. But will pop a vein clutching their pearls if it’s a Democrat.
The media is just as bad. For some unknown reason they partipate in this uneven playing field where GOP bad behavior is just a fact of life. Whadda ya gonna do?
So they move on to people who still have some shame. Much easier target.
Democrats are consistently held to a higher standard. Because they can be. They as a rule avoid the appearance of impropriety. They tend to work within society’s norms and rules. They appear to have some sort of moral core they live by. They tend to obey the laws they are supposed to uphold.
Appearances and actions are what we have to judge by in politics. Theoretically. But the GOP has thrown any sense of morality, propriety, law-abiding, and decency out the window in favor of a philosophy of anything goes as long as they have Republican by their name.
This behavior has to be called out. We shouldn’t have a major political party who is excused for any and all bad behavior simply because they are incapable of behaving. And we just accept it. Because we think they will never be made to change.
Hypocrisy should forever and always be called out. Acceptance of their actions should not be the responsibility of just one party.
Call out the BS. And vote it out whenever you can, regardless of the party doing it. We pay these people’s salaries. They should deserve them.
And right now a lot of them absolutely do not.
