Cuts to Medicare & ACA will hurt workers and small businesses!
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
The current deficit was created by two unfunded wars, and the George W. Bush and Trump tax cuts. Rep McClintock has voted to continue increasing the national debt by repeatedly voting for more tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, and ripping away services from the poorest. The American economy was better than had ever been until Trump took office and started imposing tariffs on our biggest trading partners and then the rest of the world. Tariffs are just another tax on Americans, by the way, so Rep McClintock’s support of them shows, ironically, his support for Increasing taxes.
Rep McClintock’s gift to billionaires by continuing their huge tax breaks, will raise my taxes, as well as the taxes on my kids. They work full-time are self-supporting, hard-working members of their communities. However, one will lose her healthcare if this budget passes. She is too old to be covered by our insurance and she works for a small business that can’t afford to provide health coverage. She buys her insurance through the ACA marketplace and needs the subsidies to be able to afford the insurance as well as her other bills (have you looked at the cost of rent these days?!?). With the ACA marketplace insurance that she has purchased this year, she has been able to get her asthma under control and be treated for a knee injury that limited her ability to work. Without health insurance she couldn’t afford any of those treatments. Her employer cannot afford to pay for a group health plan without substantially raising their rates to customers which will limit the business they can attract. Damaging both the business and her opportunity to earn an income.
The cuts to Medicaid and ACA subsidies will hurt workers and businesses nationwide not ‘revive the American economy’. In CD-5 and other rural districts, throwing people off Medicaid will force them to utilize emergency rooms to an even greater extent and leave doctors offices and clinics with many clients who can’t afford care any longer. Those offices will end up closing. Hospitals in McClintock’s mostly rural district will suffer financially and many will likely close, limiting care across your district. Rep McClintock needs to stand up and Vote for the fiscal responsibility he has espoused for decades and vote Against cuts to vital medical care to support small businesses and their employees! He must Vote against budgets that enable the wealthiest Americans to skip out of paying their fair share in taxes!
