Protect the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

Protect the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) at all costs. It was just announced that NCAR will be dismantled. This would be a catastrophic mistake. NCAR is NOT a political entity, but it IS the preeminent atmospheric research organization in the world. Research done at NCAR helps us understand and forecast weather, including extreme events that take lives and cost billions of dollars, air pollution episodes, geomagnetic storms, drought, storm surge, and wildfires, to name just a few. Dismantling NCAR makes no sense scientifically or economically. It would be a purely political act that would have major negative consequences for the American people and the American economy. Protect NCAR. Do not dismantle it. Do not reduce funding for it. Do not disrupt its operations in any way. Protect NCAR.
