Vote NO on the SAVE Act!

I’m writing to urge you to take immediate action to oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R. 22). This dangerous bill would impose documentary proof-of-citizenship requirements for voter registration in federal elections, creating unnecessary new barriers that could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters. This bill would also increase erroneous voter roll purges and significantly burden state and local election officials. The SAVE Act is a direct attack on our democracy. If passed, it would disproportionately harm young and older voters, naturalized citizens, voters of color, and voters with low-incomes—those least likely to have easy access to or resources to obtain documents like passports or birth certificates. We’ve already seen the damage these policies cause. In Kansas, a similar law blocked over 35,000 eligible voters from registering before it was struck down as unconstitutional. This bill is not about protecting elections—it’s about silencing voters. Federal law already prohibits noncitizens from voting, and states already have systems in place to enforce this. The SAVE Act would create unnecessary hurdles, push voters off the rolls, and burden election officials at a time when resources are already stretched thin. Now is the time to strengthen our democracy, not weaken it. I urge you to oppose the SAVE Act and instead support legislation that expands access to the ballot, like the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. Please use your voice to protect the right to vote and stop this harmful bill. Thank you for standing up for all voters.
