I'm writing to express my opposition to the Town Council's March 10th decision to purchase Rock Spring Farm. This acquisition represents poor fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars at a time when Leesburg residents are already facing budget pressures.
Vice Mayor Cimino-Johnson voted against this purchase for good reason. The town has not demonstrated that this property acquisition is a necessary or cost-effective use of public funds. Before committing taxpayer money to major land purchases, the council should prioritize core services and infrastructure needs that directly benefit residents.
I ask that you work to reverse this decision or, at minimum, ensure no additional public funds are allocated to this property without a clear, publicly vetted plan that demonstrates measurable benefits to Leesburg taxpayers. Our town's budget should reflect fiscal responsibility, not speculative land deals.
