Don't let Trump rig elections in service of the Big Lie.

I am writing to urge you to oppose any federal efforts to nationalize state election systems and to demand immediate reform of immigration enforcement tactics that have resulted in the deaths of American citizens. President Trump recently suggested that Republicans should "nationalize" voting in at least 15 states, including Minnesota, which he called "rigged." This proposal directly violates the U.S. Constitution, which explicitly grants states the power to run elections. Any attempt to federalize state election administration represents yet another unprecedented assault on our Constitutional structure by Trump and must be rejected. I ask that you publicly oppose any legislation or executive action that would strip states of their Constitutional authority over elections. The immigration enforcement situation in Minneapolis has become a crisis of accountability. Two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, were shot by federal immigration agents in January. In both cases, initial official claims that victims posed threats were contradicted by eyewitness footage. These deaths are not isolated incidents but symptoms of a deeply flawed enforcement strategy that prioritizes quotas over public safety. The political consequences are already evident. In Tarrant County, Texas, a district Trump carried by 17 points in 2024 just elected a Democrat by 14 points, a 31-point swing that the Wall Street Journal attributed directly to voter backlash against "mass deportation debacles." Trump's approval on immigration has dropped to 38 percent, with 59 percent of moderates and 56 percent of independents disapproving. Even 29 percent of non-MAGA Republicans who backed Trump believe deportations have gone too far. While 52 percent of Americans support border security, 55 percent say ICE tactics are too aggressive. The solution is clear: mandatory body cameras for all immigration enforcement officers (78 percent support), enhanced training (76 percent support), and restrictions on enforcement in sensitive areas (68 percent support). I urge you to oppose any federal takeover of state elections and to support legislation requiring these critical immigration enforcement reforms.
