That silence sends a message too. Kansas just invalidated 1,700 trans residents' driver's licenses. Utah is considering stripping trans people from anti-discrimination protections entirely. The Supreme Court is about to rule on a trans athlete ban. This is an emergency, and your silence makes you complicit.
Trans people are your constituents. They deserve more than quiet votes. They need you to say their names, defend their dignity, and explain why their rights matter. When you deflect to other issues or stay silent on social media, you abandon vulnerable people to save yourself political discomfort. That's not leadership.
I want to see you speak on the Senate floor against anti-trans provisions. I want public statements that don't pivot to the economy or "broader challenges." Trans rights are human rights, and you need to say so out loud.
