Stop Trump’s Attacks on Courts, Press, and Dissent

I’m writing to state and federal officials because our democracy is in crisis, and too many in Washington seem unable or unwilling to heed the call. I know sending a letter like this to state leaders is not typical, but these are not normal times. We need every level of government to think urgently and creatively about how to protect this country from Donald Trump’s authoritarian tendencies. In just 100 days, President Trump has made over 100 public threats against judges, journalists, and political opponents (NPR, April 2025). He’s using the office to punish critics and intimidate the judiciary. That is not leadership; it’s the behavior of a narcissistic strongman. He has moved to defund NPR and PBS, labeling them “radical propaganda” (AP News, April 2025), and independent judges who’ve ruled against him are now being doxxed and harassed. At least 11 judges and their families have been targeted so far (Reuters, May 2025). This is a coordinated effort to undermine every check on his power. Whether you’re in state or federal office, I'm asking you to take this seriously. Investigate. Speak out. Use whatever tools you have to protect our Constitution. If Trump is allowed to govern this way, the country we know may not survive.
