I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent to urge you to take immediate and decisive action to end U.S. complicity in the ongoing atrocities being committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The scale of suffering is catastrophic, and the silence or inaction from our elected officials is unacceptable.
According to the United Nations and numerous human rights organizations, the situation in Gaza constitutes a humanitarian catastrophe. As of May 2025, over 55,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians and many of them children, have been killed in the Israeli assault that began in October 2023. More than 120,000 have been wounded, and over 1.7 million people (roughly 75% of Gaza’s population) have been forcibly displaced. Entire neighborhoods have been flattened, and basic infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, and water systems have been targeted and destroyed.
This level of destruction cannot be described as mere “collateral damage” or justified under the pretense of self-defense. Genocide is defined under the 1948 Genocide Convention as acts committed with “intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.” The systematic killing, displacement, and deprivation of the people in Gaza falls squarely within this definition.
Meanwhile, the U.S. government has continued to send billions in military aid to Israel. Weapons and bombs made in America are being used to kill innocent civilians (including children) with our tax dollars. Former President Biden, President Trump and members of Congress, including yourself, are facilitating this destruction through funding, arms transfers, and unconditional political support.
We, the American people, did not elect our representatives to endorse mass suffering or to fund war crimes. We elected you to uphold justice, human rights, and the rule of law, principles you are sworn to defend. Supporting Israel’s actions in Gaza not only betrays those principles, it stains our nation’s moral standing in the world.
I urge you to:
• Call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza;
• Demand a halt to all U.S. military aid and weapons transfers to Israel;
• Support an independent international investigation into war crimes and genocide allegations;
• Advocate for the lifting of the blockade on Gaza to allow urgent humanitarian relief.
Please do not stand on the wrong side of history. The people of Gaza deserve to live in safety, dignity, and peace, just as every human being does. I implore you to represent the will of your constituents and take meaningful action to end U.S. complicity in these atrocities.
