Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
While we the people wait for Congress to get back to work before Putin decides to expand his invasion of his neighbors and/or our government is threatened once again by shutdown drama, we should reflect on today…Presidents Day.
Have you read the one about how a group of presidential scholars and historians get together and rate our Presidents?
“The 2024 edition of the Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey has [incumbent President Joe] Biden in 14th place, just ahead of Woodrow Wilson and Ronald Reagan. Trump comes in 45th, behind fellow impeachee Andrew Johnson and James Buchanan, the perennial cellar-dweller in such ratings due to his pre-Civil War leadership.”
There’s a new cellar-dweller in town. 45 really is 45.
Granted this is not a poll, where we are breathlessly assured that the guy at the bottom is actually at the top, but it is an inkling of what future history books will reflect.
DJT may bemoan not being perceived as Herbert Hoover, but the current verdict is even worse for him. Can’t wait to see the upcoming rage tweeting.
In the meantime we do have this truly presidential-grade response to the death of Putin foe Alexei Nalvany…
"The sudden death of Alexei Navalny has made me more and more aware of what is happening in our Country," Trump wrote. "It is a slow, steady progression, with CROOKED, Radical Left Politicians, Prosecutors, and Judges leading us down a path to destruction. Open Borders, Rigged Elections, and Grossly Unfair Courtroom Decisions are DESTROYING AMERICA. WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE, A FAILING NATION! MAGA2024."
Hmmm I think he’s less worried about the death of a true martyr and more concerned with his own aggrieved martyrdom because he’s fighting the law. And the law’s winning.
Plus that’s a whole lotta sneakers he’s gonna have to hawk to fulfill all the various judgements past, present, and future.
On the fun side, my husband and I are betting who will be the first to sport a pair of golden sneaks in Congress.
Any chance the Presidential Survey may be on to something?
