92,000 Jobs Lost. Gas is Spiking. Why Are We Starting a War?

I am writing to you today because I am deeply alarmed by the disconnect between our priorities abroad and the crushing economic reality here at home. The Labor Department’s latest report is a massive wake-up call: our economy unexpectedly shed 92,000 jobs in February alone, pushing the unemployment rate up to 4.4%. Even worse, the data for December and January was revised downward. Working families across factories, construction, and even healthcare are losing their livelihoods. At the exact same time our job market is shrinking, the war in Iran is directly hitting our wallets. The conflict has triggered a sharp rise in energy prices, driving the national average for gas up to $3.32 a gallon—an overnight jump that is amplifying an already painful cost-of-living crisis. Why are we engaging in a new conflict overseas when our own economy is bleeding jobs and working people are struggling to afford basic necessities? We need our leaders focused entirely on stabilizing the domestic job market and lowering costs for everyday Americans. We do not need another costly foreign war that actively harms our economy and drains our resources. I urge you to oppose further escalation in Iran and prioritize the economic crisis unfolding right here at home. We need jobs, not wars.
