We all know the GOP continues to take the country in a direction America does not want. We know the GOP is a purely political animal these days, with fealty to only one thing. And it’s not the country.
But it remains a mystery why you are unable to overcome this slavish devotion even on the subject of sexual abuse of minors.
Yes, back to Epstein. Because we the people can’t understand why you are dissembling even on a subject such as this. A subject that should negate politics in its entirety.
It makes the GOP look complicit in a cover up.
Trump’s latest claim is that he cut off his Epstein relationship because he was ‘stealing’ employees. One of whom was 16-year-old Virginia Giuffre.
But the timeline has drawn scrutiny.
Giuffre was hired away from Mar-a-Lago in 2000. But two years later, Trump spoke highly of Epstein to a reporter.
In late 2002 Trump told NY magazine, “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
It’s also been reported that Epstein remained on the membership rolls of Mar-a-Lago until October 2007. This is more than a year after he was first arrested and charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor.
The family of Giuffre, Epstein victim and sexual abuse advocate who died by suicide in April, made their plea to Trump in a public statement after he told reporters that Epstein, a convicted sex offender, "stole" Giuffre from Mar-a-Lago, where at 16 she worked as a locker-room attendant during the summer.
Giuffre's family called Trump's admission "shocking" and questioned whether he was aware of Epstein's and Maxwell's actions.
“It was shocking to hear President Trump invoke our sister and say that he was aware that Virginia had been 'stolen' from Mar-a-Lago. It makes us ask if he was aware of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal actions, especially given his statement two years later that his good friend Jeffrey 'likes women on the younger side . . . no doubt about it.' We and the public are asking for answers; survivors deserve this.”
We the people definitely agree.
Will the GOP react the way Trump did yesterday when a reporter asked the question…”Mr President, what did you think Epstein was stealing those women for?”
As he walked away, he didn’t turn around, he didn’t respond. He just kept on walking. Like he didn’t even hear the question.
