As a concerned citizen, I'm writing today to call attention to our Supreme Court. Starting with the refusal to seat Merrick Garland, a small, powerful, wealthy few have influenced and created a Court in their image. The current SCOTUS does not represent the will of the many, as evidenced by the overturn of Roe. Further, the influence of wealthy donors have gifted a number of justices with gifts, trips, flights and beyond. The veil of marriage seems to keep separated the obvious influence and leanings of the will of the ultraconservative, but it's not fooling anyone. Something must be done to ensure the people's confidence that our Supreme Court serves not just the few wealthy, influential people who seem to have forgotten, not only the separation of church and state, but the essence of our democratic republic, serving the citizens of the United States of America.
Whether a soluton like term limits, corruption oversight, or expanding the Court, something has to give. As demonstrated by the trials of our former president, judges are no longer following law. They need balance and direction, not unlimited power to rule over women's health, FDA jurisdiction, loyalty to a criminal.
We are vigorously organizing for your re-election. However, the other side does not play fair. I shudder to think about any disruption to the election. We need a fair Court that can be trusted. The current SCOTUS is, at best, questionable.
