Failure of U.S. Diplomacy – Escalation in Ukraine Under Trump’s Leadership
2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to express deep concern over the failure of U.S. diplomacy in addressing the war in Ukraine. President Trump repeatedly claimed he would end the war “within 24 hours” if elected. Instead, his actions—along with those of Senator J.D. Vance and Secretary Pete Hegseth—have emboldened Russia, escalated the conflict, and weakened America’s global standing.
Trump himself stated:
“If I were president, the war between Russia and Ukraine would end in 24 hours.”
Instead of achieving peace, Trump’s decision to freeze military aid to Ukraine has been celebrated by Russian state media, which has used his words to justify its aggression. Reports indicate that Trump has told Russia, “do whatever you want,” a statement echoed and amplified by the Kremlin. Meanwhile, Russia is now threatening to deploy its Oreshnik hypersonic missile against Ukraine, a dangerous escalation.
The Consequences of This Failed Strategy
1. Trump’s Broken Promise – His claims of peace were empty. Instead, his policies have strengthened Putin and weakened Ukraine’s defense.
2. Emboldening Russia – By cutting aid and signaling U.S. disengagement, Trump has given Russia the green light to escalate.
3. Undermining U.S. Influence – This failure in diplomacy weakens our credibility with allies and emboldens authoritarian regimes.
Congress Must Act
I urge you to:
• Investigate the Trump administration’s role in undermining U.S. foreign policy.
• Ensure continued support for Ukraine to prevent further Russian expansion.
• Hold those responsible for emboldening Russia accountable.
Trump’s approach has not ended the war—it has made it worse. Congress must act before this failure leads to even greater global consequences.
