An open letter to the U.S. Congress

STOP the SNAP Reapplication Theater

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The Trump administration wants SNAP recipients to reapply "to root out fraud and abuse." That's weird. States already require recertification every six months. So you want to increase administrative costs—time, money, people—for what exactly? Theater? And while we're talking about aid applications: What did Argentina have to do to "apply" for $40 billion from this administration? SNAP families jump through hoops every six months to prove they deserve food assistance. Foreign nations get tens of billions overnight, no questions asked. Your priorities are showing. We're watching. We're remembering. And we vote.
