An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Don’t bully DC via the budget bill

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Please stop the part of the budget bill that would cut $1 BILLION from the District of Columbia’s city budget. These are not federal funds but local taxes. It’s a ploy to make the federal budget cuts look bigger. As you know, in spite of paying federal taxes, DC residents don’t have representation to vote for them in Congress. Please be their champion. There is no budget deficit in DC - in fact they had a surplus before the chaotic actions of the new Administration. Requiring DC to cut their budget halfway through the fiscal year and treating DC like a “federal agency” in the budget bill could lead to massive furloughs of city workers - teachers, police, firefighters, etc. Please do everything you can to stop this bullying budget move.
