Strengthen FEMA: Fully Fund, Staff, and Elevate for Effective Emergency Response

I strongly urge you to support legislation that would elevate FEMA to a cabinet-level agency. This change would ensure that emergency management receives the high-level attention and resources it deserves, enabling more effective coordination across government departments during disasters. Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that FEMA staff are utilized solely for emergency response and not diverted to support ICE or other law enforcement duties. FEMA personnel are trained specifically for disaster response and recovery; using them for unrelated tasks compromises our nation's emergency preparedness. The safety and resilience of our communities depend on a robust, well-funded FEMA. I implore you to take immediate action to reverse the current trajectory and provide FEMA with the resources, leadership, and autonomy it needs to protect American lives.
