Allies Losing Trust in U.S. Is a Security Risk: Act Now

I am writing to express serious concern about the national security leadership under the Trump administration and what it means for America’s safety and global credibility. Many of the individuals now overseeing our defense and intelligence infrastructure were not chosen for their qualifications, but for their loyalty. That choice is costing us the trust of allies and putting American lives at risk.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has faced bipartisan criticism for sharing classified information in unsecured Signal chats and overseeing mass firings of experienced Pentagon staff. His background as a TV commentator does not match the gravity of his current responsibilities (Financial Times, April 2025). This is not the kind of leadership the world respects—or our military deserves.
Tulsi Gabbard, now leading U.S. intelligence, has been flagged by experts across the political spectrum for her sympathetic stances toward adversaries like Russia and Syria. She lacks deep intelligence experience, and her appointment has only deepened concerns among global intelligence partners (Wikipedia, 2025; CNN, April 2025).
Allies are starting to withhold intelligence. Some members of the Five Eyes alliance have scaled back cooperation, citing fears that sensitive information will be mishandled or politicized (The Guardian, March 2025). When our allies can’t trust us, our people are less safe.
I urge you to demand experienced, ethical leadership in national security. The future of American power, and the lives of our citizens, depend on it.
