Stand up against NIH cuts that are devastating to Illinois universities.

Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%. IN ILLINOIS: 7 schools received more than $10 million in grants from the NIH for a total of $1.07 billion. Of that, $671 million went directly to research and $406 million went to facilities and administration. The new rate would bring that to $101 million, a loss of $305 million. The NIH overhead cut doesn't just hurt universities. It's deadly for the US economy. The NIH has a principal role in supporting a scientific ecosystem. Illinois is part of that ecosystem.
