An open letter to the U.S. Congress

From Pope Image to Impulse Tariffs, This Is Not Leadership

68 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

I am writing to express outrage over President Trump’s recent AI-generated image of himself as the pope, posted during Pope Francis's mourning period and just before the papal conclave. Catholic leaders have condemned this act as deeply disrespectful and inappropriate. It shows a shocking lack of judgment and decency, qualities that should be expected of any president. This behavior, paired with his reckless and harmful tariff policies, raises serious concerns about Trump’s mental stability and fitness for office. His decisions are impulsive, performative, and driven by self-interest. The economic consequences of these tariffs will hurt American families, small businesses, and farmers for years to come. I urge you to speak forcefully against this behavior and stand up for truth, stability, and decency in our highest office. Enough is enough. The country cannot afford to normalize this man’s conduct any longer.
