Halt Iroquois Pipeline Expansion for Health and Climate Protection
16 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
The proposed expansion of the Iroquois pipeline, which includes additional compressor stations in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut, poses significant health and safety risks. The increased volume of fracked gas would lead to higher emissions of carcinogenic chemicals and exacerbate respiratory health issues due to pollution. Pipeline infrastructure also carries inherent dangers, with a documented history of injuries, deaths, fires, and explosions. The right to clean air, water, and a healthful environment for all New Yorkers should be paramount. It is crucial to prioritize the state's climate goals over the interests of the fossil fuel industry. Therefore, it is requested to halt the pipeline expansion and instead focus on fostering a cleaner, more sustainable future.
